[Abandoned] Forge Mod
Abandoned as something else got out of it which has nothing to do with forging.

*forcibly inspired* by vicICE I've decided to continue on this mod, but with a higher speed than it was going. Lallaen had a similar idea on this forum. Yet apparently it didn't work out or its progress didn't got mentioned anymore >.>. It seems fair to use another thread. We're working on this idea for a while and the time had come to start building (all exams were done)

Alonso got me on this idea from another angle (he didn't even see Lallaen's stuff ). It's plain and easy: you'll be allowed to forge your own weapons and armors, you'll be able to mine in special mines for ore and you'll be able to break down your old armor back to ore.

How do you get the ore?
Silver stocks can suffice for Iron ore, the same for steal. I might let it depend on the situation to get a small retex on it.
The same counts for gold with elven ore.
There's a glass ore model made by alonso that I'll use for this. (Ayleid teachings have to be worked out for)
Ebony will have to be made yet, yet a few small modifications wouldn't show too difficult for this. (maybe a retex of the black soulgems)
Daedric ore is made by capturing souls into ebony (True ES lore). I'll make some ebony soulgems that can be used for it.

At the moment I'm making the mines. As there are no vanilla mines that provide most of the ore, I'll make a large mine at the east that connect to various sections that allow you to obtain the ore. The ebony and glass one will get special sections with magma as at the moment they seem to be linked to red mountain/magma.

I'm not sure how the forging will take place, but I'll sort it out soon enough Smile. I'll try to evade the usage of any messageboxes. To keep it a bit simple, the forge will be at the center of the mines. The scripting will be the least of the troubles, so I'll work on the more essential things like the ore and the gathering first.

Oh yeah, did I mention I make this mod for fun instead of request >.>. This one might actually make it Wink.

Elven "ore" is metoric glass forged with a special technique by the Alyeids, nobody knows how to make it anymore, even if you were to find enough glass lying around.

Answer me this question: Will armorer have an effect? And if so in what way? May I suggest a check so that if you have a higher armorer you get more materials back from breaking down armor/weapons? Unless you already thought of that. Or maybe with 100 armorer you could make a special, slightly better, version of the item? (Higher damage, lower weight, more durable) Just a thought. Or the higher tier weapons can only be made with higher armorer skill. That would make sense.

Yep it will effect if you have a better armorer skill. Just in the fact you'll be able to forge certain types of armor/weapons at 1 or 2 levels before it'd have appeared in the world at a normal rate. For the moment I'd like not to enhance the armor with a higher armor ratings as it's basically already possible to in the vanilla game. I'm quite anti-overpowered Smile. I'm still thinking on how to approach the breaking down. It's most logical to give more on higher levels, yet I don't want to exaggerate too much. There was a topic on nexus about it (as a separate mod) with a lot of details. I think I'll wait it out till I finished the stuff that's there before over-complicating things that maybe be nice to add (and yeah, I would like to get it in), but might harm the progress as getting too big >.>.

I think it's best to finish this one by steps so it's not doomed to fail Smile.
